Sometimes
women have been known to be set free from an abusive relationship
only to later turn around (for apparently no good reason) and go
right back under the domination of the abuser. Everyone of us sit
here today and are absolutely bewildered by that kind of behavior and
yet that is exactly what Paul likens our spiritual backsliding to.
The abused woman will often justify, defend and even fight over her
decision to return to the abuser.
Throughout the Old Testament, Israel would repeatedly
go back into pagan practices. I have seen Christians do just the
same. Some of our Sunday School classes have been inundated with
discussions of whether it is actually a sin to engage in those “old
life activities”.
I believe the real question is not “What sin?” but
“Why sin?” You don’t have to anymore, so why?
Dave Peeples…
Rom
6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but
under grace? God forbid.
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield
yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey;
whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
