Deuteronomy
4:22
How many never
met my father?
How many met
him but never really knew him?
How many knew
him well?
(brief words
from volunteers)
(brief
lead-in from the pastor)
(Video
approx. 20 minutes)
(Look at all God has blessed us with through the
years and rehearse them to our children)
Deu
4:7 For what nation is there so
great, who hath God so
nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is
in all things that we
call upon him for?
Deu 4:9 Only
take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget
the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy
heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy
sons' sons;
(Dad knew he had finished his course, He
encouraged me) (His fear of ministry was that there was no
retirement)
Deu 4:22 But I
must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go
over, and possess that good land.
(We have and will face again challenges bigger
than we are… but God)
Deu
4:38 To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than
thou art, to bring
thee in, to give thee their land for
an inheritance, as it is
this day.
(His blessings are way out of proportion to our
abilities)
Deu 6:10 And
it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the
land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to
Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst
not,
Deu
6:11 And houses full of all good things,
which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not,
vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt
have eaten and be full;
(Fear and doubt will cause you to stumble at God’s
promises)
Deu
7:17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are
more than I; how can I dispossess them?
(Nothing is
bigger than our God) (The battle is the Lord’s)
Deu
7:21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is
among you, a mighty God and terrible.
Deu 7:22 And
the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and
little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the
field increase upon thee.
(The trials and lean times of the past were for
our humility to honor our God) (Consider the end)
Deu 8:16 Who
fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not,
that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee
good at thy latter end;
Deu
8:17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine
hand hath gotten me this wealth.
Deu
8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it
is he that giveth thee power to get wealth,
that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers,
as it is this day.
(Just as Joshua built upon the foundation that had
been laid with Moses – we are building upon the foundation that
laid with my dad) (I want to keep alive the vision of our God and
pass it on to our children after us to carry it to their children…)
(Dad was not
allowed to go in to this land with us but he (like Moses) saw it)

Won the Battle)
