Pastor Richard "Buddy" Wimberly "Thank You For What You Took From Me" Isaiah 53:4-6

There are so many blessings that we receive from the hand of our Lord that there are not enough hours in the day to count them all. In fact the song says count you blessings name them one by one and see what God hath done. But we all know that even if we attempt to do that we still miss so many things that should be listed. And we are grateful for His blessings and always seek for more but what about the blessings of what He took away from us.
Isa 53:4  Surely he hath borne our griefs (disease), and carried our sorrows (anguish): yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5  But he was wounded for our transgressions (rebellion), he was bruised for our iniquities (perversity): the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (mended or made whole).
Isa 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Because of sin we not only were missing the blessings of what God would give but we were absent of the things that He would take away from us. Through the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross we have all of our griefs and sorrows carried away. We have our just punishment redirected upon Him. And now the wrath of God toward sin is taken away from us who are truly the guilty ones.
Before the attribute of God’s blessings are free to flow in our lives we must receive the blessedness of what He takes away.
Can you even begin to imagine what He has borne just for you???
Today we are not here to ask for more … we are here to give thanks for the things that He has taken from us so that we may begin the relationship with Christ.
